The recordings of this program are amazing for the sound quality. The Kiel big room (auditorium) was better for basketball than bands. The Kiel Opera House was the room for great bands like the Dead, and hosted many other greats of that era as well. The Dead appeared to have a prototype of the Wall of Sound with them that night and considering the room’s deficiencies as a concert hall the Dead’s team really had the place sounding about as good as you can.
