The black on yellow stickers were already for sale at the Riverport show: “Gate Crashers Suck”—a play on the popular “Mean People Suck”. A castigating letter from the band was being circulated. Drowning in a sea of “In the Darkers,” we were at an all time low.
The band seemed uninspired and ragged. On this tour, a head was struck and killed by lightning, then several had been injured in a porch collapse at a campground. Our special place of peace, love and happiness had devolved into addiction, selfishness and greed.
