This was the first show that I had been to. All I knew of the dead was the greatest hits and American Beauty. I wasn’t even a touch head yet. I had never heard a recording of the dead live, so I had no idea that they would be playing drums and space. The only song I remember was estimated prophet, and I only remember that because I remember the arena lights coming on everytime “CALIFORNIA” came on.
That being said, I had scored mushrooms and loved shakedown street down on of the city side roads. Although I couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, and was freaked out by drums and space, I decided that night that I would work and earn money as best as I can to score herb and tickets and bootlegs. I was on the bus.
