So i won a WNEW lottery. Still have the stub of course. My second Dead-related show. I had been hooked since seeing Jerry and Hunter the previous year at Rutgers. Go To Heaven had dropped and Muni interviewed the boys and now its coming back to me that i taped it on 8-track! . They were in area for the Capitol show, SNL and im not sure what other venues. The Cap was small in an eye-opening city and the scene was electric and mystifying to a 15-year old newbie. The show was rocking and when chubby Belushi came out doing cartwheels and then croon US Blues on a shared mic with Garcia, well hell, can ya blame a guy for becoming a permanent passenger in this wonderful bus???

Fun show. the next 2 nights were Passover sedars. Lucked out and got tickets 4 1st night. Outside before show was crazy. So many people wanted to trade tix’s 4 this night because of seders the next 2. Besides Belushi showing up, my friend Howie got thrown out of show during Promised Land cause he would stop smoking a cig. They warned him 2 times & on the 3rd time they pulled him out of his seat by his collar & out he went. Wouldn’t let him back in nomatter what. 1st set was swinging. 2nd set was what i was waiting 4. Scar/fire, Est/ Eyes & so on. Topped off w U.S. Bluzzzz w Belushi. Like i said Fun Show.

U.S.Blues with John Belushi! Who would have thought…
Waited for Garcia after the show by the stage side door – No Jerry, but I did get a chance to see Belushi making his exit…Yet another stellar night at the Capitol!
