INSPIRED BY JERRY

SITE BY CRITICAL MASS

THE TALE

When a digital agency with an inherent passion for Jerry Garcia encountered the family of the man himself—this socially-driven, dynamically-interactive, hyper-personalized website was conceived.

At Critical Mass, we pride ourselves on creating extraordinary experiences that are driven by people, ideas, and results. We like to push the boundaries of what a website can do for the way people remember and connect over a shared experience. This project was a true labor of love—enveloping every individual that took part from conception through to development.

Development Partner

A huge development effort went into the new jerrygarcia.com. For this, we put our heads together with our longtime partner, Hangar. Their drive, experience, and passion for pushing boundaries aligned perfectly with the nature of this project.

Hangar's development team lives by one mantra: "To understand technology is to understand what's possible." Adhering to this ensures they deliver award-winning mobile, social, and web experiences that challenge the very concept of "impossible."

RYAN SHRIVEREnormous gratitude to Ryan who, for years, has curated The Jerry Site to provide a solid touchpoint for the fans. He shared with us a huge amount of the data, stats, and content for this project. The family and friends of Jerry Garcia are forever grateful for his time and effort.

MATT SHOFIELDOur ability to display information around the full catalogue of Grateful Dead albums is due to the generosity of Matt Shofield at DeadDisc, who allowed us to repurpose the data he so carefully crafted.

COLIN PARSONSColin served as our on-call historian throughout this process. Without his tireless advice, invaluable memory, and keen eye for edits, our months would have turned quickly into years. We thank him for all his efforts in helping us get the details "just exactly perfect".

GREG POULOSMany of the concert tickets and backstage passes you see on this site were derived from an enormous database gathered by Mr. Poulos. These items add so much to the experience, and we can't thank Greg enough for the legwork involved in bringing them from the hands of fans to the archive assembled here.
