Ok, so I drove up with some friends from NY for this show, and I jumped out in the traffic jam so I could find a ticket. Finally found one and got into the show and down to the floor where someone offer me a tab. I don’t remember much of the show, but when they did Bid You Goodnight, I was flying. Everyone was hugging each other and Jerry’s singing about Jesus, and I’m a Jew so I’m like, ok, I guess that’s my cue, so I finally found my way out of the stadium, just following the people in front of me until I came to the woods, and I look back over the parking lot and see people pouring out of the stadium like aliens from a spaceship, and then I realized I had no idea where my friends were. I walked around the parking lot, what scene, and then everyone was pretty much gone and I had to accept that my friends had left me there, apparently they thought I got a ride from someone else. Anyway, I had left my bag and wallet in my friend’s car, and I only had $5 in my sock, so I scoured the parking lot and found a pair of sweatpants and a hunting knife, and I eventually met a few other stranded people: a young girl with a vial of liquid acid, and an alligator wrestler from Florida who woke up in Foxboro and had never even seen the Dead. So, at dawn, this pick-up truck comes by, with a couple of guys who were trying to tap an empty keg without a tap, and we piled in and all made our way to a sleepover party in the woods somewhere, and then got to Rich Stadium for the next show where I jumped the fence and so did Alligator guy, because I convinced him he had to take in a show. True story.
