I just dug the circulating AUD of this show out this morning for the first time in quite a few years, and it’s even better than I remember it being. It sounds like Jerry must have had a really good dive or two earlier in the day, because he’s happy, focused, and playing his ass off during this show. The Tough Mama, in particular, is a real keeper. The whole show, though, is excellent – a well chosen setlist and everything is played very, VERY well.
I have no idea if the Garcia family archive has a viable soundboard copy of this show, but if so then I’d highly recommend looking at this Hilo show the next time this era comes up in the rotation for official releases.
(And if the whole show isn’t usable, at least find some way to put out the SBD of this version of Tough Mama!)

The venue was the size of a high school gym. I was in the front row, and could touch the stage. What a show!

Was not at these shows but just look how many songs in both sets of each night on the Islands Jerry must of been very excited about being back there to play. Long run-on sentence huh
