There’s no “might have been cancelled” to it. This show WAS cancelled. My wife and I (girlfriend at the time) drove all the way from southern Missouri to see this show. We couldn’t believe what a dead scene it was around the Civic Arena until we walked right up to the door and saw the “Cancelled” sign taped to the glass. That’s right, things like this could happen in the days before the Internet and instant info/communication. We never even dreamed of calling up the venue to make sure the show was still on before making a 5-hour drive, but in retrospect we should have with such an off-the-beaten-path venue in a small-size city…..I can’t remember if we still have our tickets or not–we probably had to turn them in to get our money back. I thought we bought them from Capers Corners in KC, but I don’t see them listed among the ticketsellers on the poster image at http://dylanstubs.com/jerry/jerry80s.htm, so maybe it was somewhere else…..Oh well, I had lived in St. Joseph for 7 years as a kid, so we toured around the city instead and had a good look at how the place had changed over the years. Too bad this show didn’t happen as St. Joseph is a really neat place with a lot of history. This would have been one nice little piece of musical experience to add to everything else!
