This was my 2nd of 15 JGB shows around the Bay Area in the first half of ’82. I always went with my buddy Bob Mantia and we were ALWAYS on the rail in front of Jer. It was at this show that as the band came out for the 2nd set, I said to Jer (just a few feet in front of me): “Hey Jerry, how about Mission in the Rain for that 2nd set that never got played in Boston?” Two months earlier, I saw his two shows at the Orpheum in Boston, but because of an electrical fire that had broken out elsewhere on the block, they lost power and the 2nd show only had a 1st set.
So, after Jer hears me say that, he gives me a funny look of ‘you were there?!’ and then goes right into Mission as the tears raced down my cheeks! If anyone has pix of any of those early ’82 club shows, please LMK!
