My birthday. I’d travelled from Manchester with a couple of friends and we were staying at Ged’s old mate, Bob, in Muswell Hill. I’d heard stories about Bob but this was the first time I’d met him. Bob worked for the Who but didn’t tell me the Dead were actually using the Who’s gear until AFTER the show. He hadn’t realised how much of a fan of the Dead I was until then. So I missed the best chance I ever had to get backstage (until Ratdog in 2002/3). So the next week he’s off to Germany with them for the Rockpalast gig. Damn, I only get to see it on TV. Still, this was my favourite birthday show. RIP Bob.
