Over 100 degrees, waded through knee deep mud for water, but it was all worth it. Arrived early in the morning with a Charted Bus, and about at least 6 car loads of us. We were already tuned up and ready for a great show. It started out with the New Riders playing one of the best shows of theirs I ever saw then The Marshall Tucker Band really took the show to another level getting everybody ready for the Main event, an incredible show preformed by the band, and Capt. Trips was masterful! Our crew had such a great time, that I don’t remember driving home out to Long Island. Wow!!! What a long Strange trip it was! This concert is one of my very favorite shows of the band. It has a special place all reserved in my memory of a lifetime of Grateful Dead shows. Personally, I especially loved that night’s versions of He’s Gone, Bertha, Mississippi Half Step, Peggy-O and Terrapin Station. But, with a concert like this one, every song was tight and Jerry & the Band wailed! What more can you as for?

I worked a concession stand for this show, arriving the night before to watch the sound check and take turns watching the show from the back of the ice truck during a very hot day. Quite memorable!
