First show for me….19 years old, and parked over the canal and saw Manger Hotel with freaks “kickin it”! That’s where we headed,….side door in to long hallway and lobby where couple freaks sitting by front door sippin their drinks,….my buddy asks if they were with the band….one Kat acknowledged ! He was clean shaven and cool,…asked if we were @ show previous nite…told him “no”! Next he says,…”be careful,…their bustin people!”! I responded,… “my first show!”….he then says,…”Hope you like em!
Well,……I was so caught up in the moment,…dumbfounded,…but oh yeah,…that was Jerry! When they went into Sugaree,…he and I locked eyes (I’m 6’6”)….and he smiled and I was laughing as he did also! Yupper, 19 years old, first dead show, & Jerry being Jerry…..a good guy and I don’t recognize him! What a great story! How can you not like a guy like that! Will not forget him, ever!
