Show Facts
This was the sound check for the next days show (07/28/1973). Thousands of people had arrived a day early so the Dead played a longer than usual sound check, turning it into a mini show. The Allman Brothers Band and The Band, who were also scheduled for the next day, followed the Dead's example and gave the early arrivals a little extra with their respective sound checks as well.

1st show, hitchhiked the last 300 miles after our VW Bug blew up, guy that picked us up, said “get me high and drive”! Gladly. 17 and I still know all the living friends that were at that show together, never looked back much but man those were the days. Thank you Dead members and family, the best there ever was.
