Pure Jerry: Marin ’86 Coming Nov. 24 for RSD Black Friday

We’re heading to Jerry’s stomping grounds and stripping it down for this year’s Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. On November 24th, the Jerry Garcia Family and Round Records will reissue Pure Jerry: Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium, San Rafael, CA February 28, 1986 on vinyl for the very first time. Originally released in 2009 as a single CD, the 2xLP live set will be pressed on 180g gold vinyl in a limited edition of 7,500 and features intricate new artwork created by Gabe Schneider (Sight Study).

Living up to the series name, the duo’s performance is exactly that – pure. With only Jerry’s vocal and guitar and Kahn’s bass, the two deliver an unadulterated and intimate performance within the walls of the 2,000-seat auditorium. The two-set performance features a quintessential setlist including storied Garcia/Hunter compositions like “Friend of the Devil,” “Run for the Roses,” “Ripple,” “Bird Song” and “Dire Wolf” plus other favorites like “Deep Elem Blues,” “Jack-a-Roe,” and Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece.”
