The Bare Bones journey continues with the release of Bare Bones: Volume II – Other Tunes and Arrangements and Bare Bones: Volume III – Alternate Takes. The final two installments in the series exploring the foundation of Garcia & Grisman’s studio masterworks will be released on vinyl on April 4^th and are available now for pre-order.

Picking up where Volume I left off, Volume II dives into the magic of Jerry Garcia and David Grisman’s musical reunion including original versions of songs that became staples of their songbook. The collection also includes several previously unreleased cuts including the first spontaneous duo recording (the appropriately titled “Bare Bones Prelude”) captured in Dawg’s home studio – a formative moment that sparked sessions to come.

Closing out the collection, Volume III offers listeners an intimate look into Jerry and Dawg’s musical exploration, featuring 16 alternate takes of their duo recordings – including some of the very first takes of classic Garcia/Grisman songs. Free from deadlines and full of inspiration, the duo often revisited songs across multiple sessions, discovering new possibilities with each take. It’s a veritable masterclass in the duo’s infinite creativity.
