I did not have a ticket but needed to go in. I laid a jacket over my shoulders, knocked on a back door and. Someone opened. Of course. I raced in so fast and ducked and scattered no security guard could have caught me. I got up close. Maybe i was just needing it but. Jerry looked at me some solid seconds.

This was my most memorable surprise shows. Made the trip out west to visit a girl I was dating that was out there on business. While driving around listening to the radio we learned that Jerry was going to be in town. She tried to pick up tickets via phone but said the show was sold out. We made plans for dinner and started to drive. Soon, I started seeing all of these heads out on the street looking for tickets and remember commenting that the restaurant must be near the venue. All of a sudden we are in heavy traffic and I see the entrance to Irvine Meadows. Still has not hit me what was going on. Finally, she says open the glove compartment and look for a map. I open and to my surprise there are a pair of tickets.. Unreal feeling of joy and an incredible show… 50th birthday to boot. So much fun… Thanks for letting me share.

On JGB tour that summer in Cali. Didn’t have a ticket but on the morning of the show they opened the ticket window and sold some tickets. I got orchestra pit, 3rd row center. Right in front of Jerry… I have never been so close and what a magical time it was. When he walked out on stage for the second set, someone walked a silver bucket of ice with a bottle of champagne and 50 colored balloons and put it between him and his mike as he tuned. He stayed with his back turned and started Shining Star and must have played for 10 minutes before someone came out got the balloons and he turned around to sing. I think I saw tears in his eyes, we were all bawling like babies… These memories are the diamonds in our mind that are our true wealth and no one can take them away from us.. I miss you Jerry

I remember signing a giant 50th birthday card for Jerry in the venue. I wonder what ever happened to it.
