Went to University of Wisconsin-Madison; an hour away from Alpine. UW supplied plenty of rabid fans; and in the Midwest, with fewer shows each year (unlike, say, Oakland Coliseum), when they arrived, it was extra special. The week was unbelievable. It was about 95 degrees every day in the “Dust Bowl” parking lot/camping scene.

Mine too, Karel! We traveled all the way from Arkansas to Alpine Valley. That Half Step still rattles my bones and that Goin Down the Road Feeling Bad!

This was my first show.. I’ve been a Deadhead since. Drums & space was a spiritual experience. Then Dear Mr. Fantasy with Brent at his best.. Alpine shows were always the best <3
