I was supposed to start working with the Dead doing merchandise, and had driven down to see and meet them in Ventura, but the call came and the show was off. We had lots of dead related events during the hiatus of health, and had heard that he had to relearn guitar, but Jerry came back stronger than ever.

Some thing that still stands out to me even today is we were all wondering if Jerry was going to be healthy enough to remember to play at all and he sure let us know he was ready and rejuvenated from his time off. Not only did he come back but he came back very strong with many tunes he had not ever played to this point. I know I thought well we are in for a new Grateful Dead also. We were treated to many new JGB versions of others songs and the Dead themselves with new material also in December at the TRUIMPANT return shows
