1983 & 1984 Dead-Belt’s Fall Tour’s final shows were both at Syracuse University’s “Carrier Dome”. This inflated-roof, indoor football stadium was similar in size to the Hubert Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis. Big place, so/so sound. The drive to Syracuse from Philadelphia was easy. Up the PA Turnpike, past the Broome County Arena in Binghamton and The Finger Lakes ending up in College Town. We would arrive 1 hour before the show when student parking was available near the dome.

Both ’83 & ’84 shows featured the Beatle’s “Revolution” as encore. The Shakedown St. > Samson He’s Gone > Smokestack was non-stop dancin’ in the rafters. During drums we moved down to the floor which had this wooden type fencing for sand-dunes blocking access to wide open field / floor areas stage left n right. But during Lovelight the fence on stage right came down to allow a sea of heads to spill onto the field with no resistance from college security. It energized the Lovelight to have so many heads that close to the band.
What I remember about leaving the dome was the feeling of being pushed-out the doors with a force of air as the dome was deflating.
