If only they had waited about 20 minutes more for the storm to pass on 8/2, but…people were throwing shit at the stage as the wind was whippin’ & the rain was pourin’ & Bobby had about enough of this crowd & Jersey weather…f*ck it!

They came back 4 days later and it was one of the best shows & most fun I have ever had at a show in my life. There was tremendous window-pane that was available on line both nights & I was there with my 2 best friends whom I am still friends with to this day.

Opened up with the most funky Bertha I ever heard with the Wall of Sound & a clean shaven’d Jerry on a Travis Bean & it just took off from there. This era of Dead & associated bands shows (Legion of Mary, Kingfish, JGB, Bob Hunter, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, New Riders) for me was the best (around ’72-’77). This was a very fun & magical time. And this night in particular, summer of ’74…being that I was born in Jersey City at Margaret Hagg Hospital in ’54…It is one of those, “Ya hadda be there!”
